As an author for Rockport Publishers, I am pleased to announce a Call For Entries for the company’s second Animation book. The first book, which focused on all forms of animation entitled The Best New Animation Design, sold out its first printing. The second edition, The Best New Animation Design II, which will focus on computer animation, is poised to do the same.

The new title will feature 300 examples of cutting-edge imagery from the greats and soon-to-be-greats in the field. Published in the fall of 1997, The Best New Animation Design II will be a 9x12 coffee table book with an eye-catching glossy hardcover.

If you would like to have images from your company considered, please carefully print out the following forms, including the release, and fill them out and return them to: Kellie-Bea Rainey and Rita Street: 3825 McLaughlin #204, Los Angeles, CA 90066. You can submit as many as you like but each image must be accompanied by its own submission/release form. We take slides, Transparencies or digital images saved as 300dpi (@actual size) CMYK TIFFs on 44, 88 or 200mb Syquest, ZIP disk, 128 or 230mb Magneto Optical or CD-ROM/PhotoCD.

The Deadline for entries has been extended to December 1996.

Rockport Publishers is currently accepting entries for The Best New Animation Design II. This exciting new title will feature the latest, innovative work in the field of computer animation and will be printed as a full-color, large format, showcase book.

Eligibility: We will include examples from all genres including but not limited to: computer animation for features, television, station identifications, public service announcements, commercials, special venues, shorts, multimedia game applications. The only stipulation is that this animated image or series of images have been created within the last two years.

Entry Information:Please carefully fill out the following information for each entry. Feel free to photocopy this form for multiple entries. Print carefully, or type. Remember that this information will be used in the book.

VERY IMPORTANT: EACH ENTRY MUST INCLUDE A SIGNATURE AGREEING TO THE FOLLWING TERMS OR RELEASE!

Grant of Rights: The undersigned hereby grants to Rockport Publishers the right to reproduce in any size, the work identified above in its forthcoming book THE BEST NEW ANIMATION DESIGN II and in all editions, revisions and reprintings of the Book. The undersigned hereby confirms that (1) any and all information attached hereto is correct, (2) the undersigned is either the sole owner of all rights to the work (and to any and all photographs, samples, and transparencies of the work being submitted) or has been authorized by the owner(s) of such rights to grant the rights herein granted and (3) the publication of the work will not violate the rights of any third party. The undersigned agrees that (1) the undersigned will not receive any direct financial compensation from Rockport for granting these rights herein, but has and will receive a good and valuable consideration for granting these rights the promotional value of having the work included in the Book, (2) none of the material submitted will be returned, (3) the undersigned shall not hold Rockport Publishers responsible for the safekeeping of any materials in Rockport’s possession and (4) Rockport Publishers is under no obligation to include the above mentioned work in the Book or to Publish the Book itself. We also agree that Rockport Publishers is entitled to rely for permission on a facsimile of this original.
